What Ammo Tracker is

Ammo Tracker is a free ammunition price search. Anyone can compare retailer listings by caliber without an account. With a free account you can also keep a personal inventory, watch calibers, get price alerts by email, and save searches. Ammo Tracker is run by Benn Partners LLC. This policy explains what information we collect, how it is handled, and the choices you have.

Searching without an account

Searching needs no account, and we keep no record of you or your searches in our database. We do not ask who you are, we do not store your location, and there is no server-side history of what you searched for. Two things happen in your browser only: we keep a short “Recent” list of the last five calibers you viewed, stored in this browser and cleared when you clear site data, and our analytics counts that a results page for a caliber was viewed, tied to a random browser identifier and never to a name or email (see Analytics and error reports below). Like any website, our hosting provider handles the technical details of each request, such as your IP address, to serve the page and protect the service from abuse, and keeps its own short-lived logs for that purpose.

Information we collect with an account

Account information. When you sign up, our authentication provider, Clerk, collects your email address, name, and the credentials needed to sign you in securely: a password, or a Google sign-in.

Inventory data you enter. Ammo Tracker only knows what you tell it. That includes ammo types and categories, lot details such as brand, ammo code, grain or shell length and shot size, the month you bought a lot, an optional cost basis, quantity on hand, and notes, and logbook entries recording when rounds are used, bought, rotated, or adjusted.

Optional firearm details. If you choose to track firearms, the form asks for a name, an optional caliber, a starting round count, and tags. Ammo Tracker also keeps the lifetime round counts it calculates from your logbook, any maintenance reminders and maintenance history you record, and which of your ammo lots you have loaded into magazines for a firearm. Every firearm field beyond the name is optional, and Ammo Tracker does not collect firearm serial numbers. There is no serial number field, and there is no document or photo upload.

Watches, alerts, and saved searches. If you use them, we store the calibers you watch, the price alerts you set, the searches you save, and a record of which alert emails we sent you and when. We also store your notification settings: whether you have opted out of all email, your time zone, and any quiet hours.

Requests and support. If you ask us to cover a caliber we do not list yet, we store that request with your account so we can measure demand. If you email support, we keep that email thread.

How we use your information

We use the information above to run the service and show your own data back to you. Your inventory data is never sold, shared, or used for advertising. Ammo Tracker carries no advertising networks and does not build advertising profiles.

Retailer links

Some retailer links are affiliate links, marked “affiliate” where they appear. If you buy through one, the retailer may pay us a commission at no extra cost to you. Each retailer link passes through a brief Ammo Tracker redirect that counts the click by day, retailer, and caliber before sending you on to the retailer’s site. We do not record which account clicked a link, and the retailer does not tell us who you are or what you bought. Once you leave Ammo Tracker, the retailer's own privacy policy applies.

Email

We only send email you asked for. Price alert emails are opt-in per alert, every one carries a one-click unsubscribe, and you can turn off all email from your settings. The weekly digest is off until you turn it on. It lists the lowest prices for your calibers and which of your ammo types are below the reserve you set, never your on-hand counts, and every digest has a one-click link to stop it. Emails are delivered through Resend. We do not send marketing email.

Analytics and error reports

We use PostHog to count page views and a short, fixed list of named events, such as a search being run for a caliber, an account being created, or a calculator being used. Automatic capture is off: no session recording, no heatmaps, and no form or text capture. No event includes inventory contents, quantities, free-text searches, your email, or your name. Query strings are stripped from every page view, and location lookup from your IP address is turned off. Signed-in users are identified to PostHog by an opaque account ID only.

We use Sentry to report application errors so we can fix them. Before an error report leaves your browser or our servers, we remove the user record, cookies, request headers, form data, and query strings, and we replace error messages that could contain your data with a short category code.

Service providers

We rely on a small number of providers to operate Ammo Tracker. Your information passes through them only as needed to deliver the service, and each is bound by its own privacy and security terms:

• Clerk handles sign-in and account credentials.
• Convex stores your account data, inventory, watches, alerts, and saved searches.
• Vercel hosts the website.
• Resend delivers alert emails.
• PostHog receives the analytics events described above.
• Sentry receives the scrubbed error reports described above.
• Firecrawl reads retailer product pages on our behalf to collect prices. It never receives anything about you or your account.

Data retention and deletion

Your account data is kept for as long as your account exists so the service can function. Analytics events and error reports are kept by PostHog and Sentry for their standard retention periods and are never joined back to your inventory. Retailer price data is not personal data: we keep a daily price summary per caliber and discard detailed listing-change records after 30 days.

There is no in-app delete button and no data export feature. To delete your account, email us from the address on the account (see Contact below). We verify that the request came from the account holder, then delete your Clerk account and every record tied to your account in our database, including inventory, firearms, logbook, watches, alerts, saved searches, and notification settings. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Because there is no export feature, we cannot provide a copy of your data beforehand.

Your choices

You can search without an account. With an account, you control what you enter: firearm details are entirely optional, you can track ammunition without ever adding a firearm, and you can leave any optional field blank. You can turn alert emails off per alert or for the whole account at any time.

Security

We rely on industry-standard infrastructure providers for authentication and data storage, and data is encrypted in transit between your device and our services. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

Ammo Tracker is not directed to, and should not be used by, anyone under 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
